The Dark Magician’s Altar is an animated “still-life” that I created for my VIST-275: Production Techniques class. I first came up with the title “The Dark Magician’s Altar” and then gathered images of items and subjects that would be related to a dark ritual.

Phony Shinobi (00:07 – 00:16) – Team Project

Phony Shinobi is a short animation created within 36 hours with a team consisting of Me, Cole Schantel, Steve Leal, and Rachelle Romane. I first came up with the pitch of a ninja battle and then we adjusted this idea to fit more with the theme of “On Thin Ice” and thus resulting in the animation we have now. It was a fun experience branching more into a stylized animation style and visual look, and it inspired me to explore more non-PBR visuals.
Entered into the Viz-a-GoGo 31 screening reel.

POV: You’re On a Date With a Goblin (00:16 – 00:23) – Independent Project

Goblin Date Video was a fun project to work on, but was hard to balance with the school curriculum I had to prioritize on during the creation of this animation. This was my chance to experiment with new things to speed up the workflow, such as using phone facial mocap data recorded with Unreal’s Live Link, however it didn’t produce effective results as the audio was pre-recorded and it proved difficult to try and match it with re-recording. I tried using NVidia’s Audio2Face AI instead, and it created somewhat better results that did sync up with the audio however was not very expressive and lacked range of motion. It needed a lot of adjusting using the facial rig but overall, the resulting animation is satisfactory for the limited time it had.
