The Dark Magicians Altar (00:03 – 00:07) – Independent Project
Unreal Engine 5, Blender, Maya, Substance Painter, 3D Scanner App
Responsible for all aspects
Modeling, rigging, animation, lighting, surfacing, concept

The Dark Magician’s Altar is an animated “still-life” that I created for my VIST-275: Production Techniques class. I first came up with the title “The Dark Magician’s Altar” and then gathered images of items and subjects that would be related to a dark ritual.

Goblin Gaming Offline (00:07 – 00:23) – Duo Project
ZBrush, Blender, Substance Painter, Davinci Resolve
Responsible for character modeling, surfacing, character animation, lighting, technical art, VFX, rigging, compositing, grading, sound production.

Goblin Gaming Offline is a sequel to another gamer-goblin themed animation. This was a fun project where I played around with cinematic presentation, particularly in camera positioning, animation, and music. Upon uploading to Youtube, it has become our most popular video by far and received mountains of praise.

The Darkcade (00:16 – 00:23) – Independent Project
Blender, Substance Painter, ZBrush, Reaper
Responsible for character modeling, character animation, VFX, grading, compositing, rigging, sound production, lighting, storyboarding

The Darkcade was a summer project that began around the end of my sophomore year in college. I knew that I wanted a high energy, slapstick-esque type of humor for this animation. How it began was a bit different from my usual projects, I had created the audio first beforehand just to play around with different sounds and I was really enjoying the pacing and energy of how it sounded. Using the audio, I plotted it out with an animatic with drawings that I drew using Blender’s grease pencil and that became our framework for pacing. It was only later in the summer when I had time between summer classes that I finally began work on the Darkcade, and decided to go all in on the low quality VHS aethetic and glow in the dark colors.

Created for the Higher Goblin Fiend Collective Youtube project in collaboration with Cole Schantel.

Co-Operation (00:36 – 00:41) – Team Project
Blender, Substance Painter, Davinci Resolve, Unreal Engine 5, Houdini
Responsible for compositing, grading, VFX, simulations, environment, concept, ICVFX.

Co-Operation was a project that particularly outside of what I usually do. This was a live-action 30-second film that we created for my Virtual Production class. I developed a simple environment in Unreal Engine 5 to be used on a virtual production screen for live-action filming on professional film cameras. My role for this project involved learning new skills such as camera tracking, compositing, and grading raw film footage. I also learned to use Houdini to create the snow simulation.

Shadowshift (00:42 – 00:47) – Team Project
Blender, Substance Painter, Davinci Resolve
Responsible for programming, rigging, character modeling, VFX, technical art, technical design

This is a current project that I’m working on for my game development studio class. For this project, I am working in Unity and programming a game without the use of a visual scripting system. Since we were supplied with an existing programming framework, it has helped me break into Unity development with traditional programming.

Anime Inspired Foliage System (00:48 – 01:04) – Independent Project
Blender
Responsible for all aspects, technical art

This was a foliage system that I made as a tool to be used for another animation project that I haven’t gotten the opportunity to start on yet. This was a very interesting project to work on, as I was introduced into Blender’s geometry node system for the first time and I loved how it worked. I followed tutorials to create simple foliage, and I continued to expand on that with my own features for more customization and optimization for rendering.

Wacky West (01:05 – 01:17) – Team Project
Blender, ZBrush, Reaper
Responsible for character modeling, animation, lighting, sound production

This animation was initially made for a 36 hour animation contest hosted by the Texas A&M SIGGRAPH chapter. Our animation was judged and we received the best in time-based media, meaning that judges determined our animation to be the best amongst many other submissions. The theme for this animation was “Out with the Old”, and somehow landed on a combination of aliens and cowboys. After the contest, we polished up the animation to remove any mistakes and jank that was included and extended it to have a cute outro sequence supplied with music created by me.
